There isn’t much information about the history of the town. Although, it was apparently used to be a logging town.
There used to be rail, being able to transport passengers and freight, connecting to Rangiora. The rail was then dismantled and taken apart in 1959.
In 2009, the main street went through major renovations, making it finally nicer for pedestrians to get around. There isn’t much information on this project, but they did run out of money and had to cancel.
